The IUTAM Symposium will take place in Darmstadt, Germany.
Germany is located in Central Europe and has a population of roughly 82 million. It is among the economically strongest countries in Europe. The City of Science Darmstadt is located in the south-west of Germany, about 30 kilometers south of Frankfurt and less than 60 kilometers north of Heidelberg. It is the centre of administration of the district Darmstadt, which contains amongst others the cities Frankfurt and Wiesbaden. Darmstadt itself has a population of about 152,000 whereas the larger urban zone has 431,000 inhabitants. The city center of Darmstadt is the Luisenplatz, which is shown below.
The symposium will be held at the Campus Lichtwiese, witch is located in the south east city limit of Darmstadt. It can be reached by bus as well as by train. The bus goes every 15 minutes from Darmstadt Main Station via the city centre to TU-Lichtwiese/Mensa, which is the ultimate destination of the bus line K. Going by train takes about twelve minutes from Darmstadt Main Staition to TU-Lichtwiese Bahnhof.
